Halloween is coming. Apart from playing trick-or-treating, attending costume parties, carving jack-o'-lanterns, bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted attractions, playing pranks, telling scary stories, what else can you do? How about watching horror films with your family together?

The Ome
This has been a favorite of mine since I was young. It’s directed by Richard Donner, who became better known for lighthearted blockbusters, and stars the great Gregory Peck among others. It’s terrifying and wonderful, and contains the subtlety that lesser horror films lack. This movie is one of my favorite horror films till now. Plus, it’s got a creepy antichrist kid, which is always a winner.
The Monster Squad
It’ll never be considered a great cinematic achievement, but it is a heck of a lot of fun. It’s also probably a good way to introduce kids to the classic movie monsters: vampires, werewolves, mummies, and even Frankenstein’s monster. For a 24-year-old movie, the special effects look remarkably good, and the plot even has some occasional poignant moments amid the jokes.
The Hollow
A Halloween prank turns a teenage party into a night of sheer terror. High school senior Ian Cranston (Kevin Zegers, Dawn of the Dead), the last blood relative of Ichabod Crane, finds himself facing what appears to be the Headless Horseman head-on!
All of these three movies are my favorite. Sometimes, when I was boring, I would watch them on my iPod touch again.
